To support the knowledge elements of the Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, we deliver a series of 4 remote (online) day courses.
Teaching Assistant With SEND Level 3 Apprenticeship
Our Teaching Assistant with SEND course is designed for those of you in a school setting who want to gain a recognised qualification while strengthening knowledge and confidence in supporting pupils with SEND.
It blends hands‑on classroom experience with knowledge-based theories and helping participants develop the skills needed to provide effective support to students with additional needs.
As an apprentice, you could be working in:
- Primary, secondary, or special education settings
- Across various age ranges
- With pupils experiencing emotional vulnerabilities or special educational needs
You’ll support teachers in delivering lessons and guiding pupils—either one-to-one or in small groups—to:
- Understand tasks clearly
- Achieve learning objectives
- Stay focused and make meaningful progress
- Implement SEND focused strategies
- Build nurturing environments
- Adapt the curriculum in relation to the SEND environment
Our SEND provision helps learners to create a fully inclusive environment where barriers are removed, strengths are celebrated, and every individual is supported to reach their next steps with confidence. Through personalised learning, specialist support and genuine care, we empower apprentices so they can support their students with SEND needs.
Over the courses of the apprenticeship, within your 1-1 teaching sessions with your educator, you will cover the following SEND focused topics:
- Supporting behaviour for children with SEND
- Communication and support styles
- Provisions and interventions
- Adapting curriculum
- Professional services
