At Heart of England Training (HOET), we take immense pride in supporting learners as they grow, develop, and reach new milestones in their careers. Today, we are delighted to celebrate the achievements of Emma Satchell, who has recently completed her Team Leader Level 3 Apprenticeship while working with Via EM, a company committed to delivering sustainable highways services across the East Midlands.
Emma’s dedication, curiosity, and drive to expand her knowledge have been clear from the very beginning. Her apprenticeship journey reflects not only her hard work but also the incredible impact that high‑quality training and support can have on a developing leader.
Seizing an Opportunity to Grow
One of the foundations of Emma’s success has been the training she received through HOET. Delivered by her educator, Helen, the programme offered a supportive blend of structure, flexibility, and meaningful guidance.
Emma reflects warmly on this experience:
“The training I received from my Educator, Helen, was brilliant. She knew how to connect with me in a way that you could understand and helped me by setting achievable deadlines in the time that we had. She was able to explain the knowledge criteria covered in the day course and apply it to the tasks and skills covered on the job.”
This personalised approach allowed Emma to apply her learning directly to her role at Via EM, strengthening her leadership capabilities and reinforcing real workplace impact.
Enhancing Skills for Everyday Success
A key part of Emma’s apprenticeship involved developing her functional skills, which had a meaningful influence on her day‑to‑day responsibilities.
“Undertaking the functional skills has really helped me improve my letter writing and project planning communication to stakeholders. Along with Helen’s teaching, it has really helped improve my skills within my day-to-day activities.”
From stakeholder communication to organisational planning, Emma’s enhanced abilities have made her an even stronger asset to her team. Her progress is a fantastic example of how apprenticeships create confident, capable leaders ready to take on more responsibility.
Advice for Future Apprentices
For anyone considering an apprenticeship, Emma’s message is clear and encouraging:
“It’s a great thing to have, it’s an amazing opportunity and helps you think outside of the box. For those that want to advance their career, it is a fantastic base into a team leader position.”
Her experience proves that apprenticeships are not just for those starting out — they are powerful stepping stones for career progression at any stage.
A Journey Worth Recommending
When asked whether she would recommend an apprenticeship through HOET, Emma didn’t hesitate:
“Yes, absolutely.”
Her enthusiasm reflects the high‑quality support and structured approach she experienced throughout her journey — something we strive to deliver to every learner.
Celebrating Emma’s Success
We couldn’t be prouder of Emma’s accomplishments. Her growth, determination, and commitment embody exactly what apprenticeships are designed to nurture. We’re thrilled to have been part of her journey and look forward to seeing where her new skills and confidence take her next.
Congratulations, Emma — from all of us at Heart of England Training.
