Heart of England Training Raises £2,461.67 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital

At Heart of England Training, we’re passionate about making a difference in our community. This year, we’re delighted to share that through the incredible generosity and hard work of our staff, learners, and supporters, over the last few years we have raised an amazing £2,461.67 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

We were honoured to be able to contribute towards the outstanding work that the hospital does for children and families across the region.

A Special Place for Children and Families

In August, members of our team – Sarah Murphy, Heather Wright, Allanah Williams, Rebecca Shuck, and Sarah Needs, had the privilege of visiting Birmingham Children’s Hospital to see first-hand how the funds we raised will help.

What struck us most was how welcoming and uplifting the hospital environment feels. From the moment families walk through the doors, the hospital works hard to remove the fear and worry often associated with medical settings.

There’s a school on-site so children don’t miss out on their education, and the walls are covered with bright murals and artwork to keep spirits high. Outdoor areas offer space for play, while innovative tools such as VR headsets help children to escape the hospital environment for a little while. Everything is designed to create a “home from home” feel, offering comfort at a time when it’s needed most.

As Sarah Murphy, Academy Manager at Heart of England Training, reflected:

“Our visit to the hospital was incredibly moving. It was emotional to see the challenges that families face, but also uplifting to witness the incredible lengths the staff go to in order to create such a positive, welcoming environment. It truly doesn’t feel like a hospital – it feels like a place of hope and care.”

How We Raised the Funds

The generosity shown across Heart of England Training has been inspiring. Our staff, learners, and supporters all came together to raise funds through a range of activities, including:

  • Non-uniform days – with fun themes to get everyone involved

  • Raffles – bringing out the competitive spirit for a good cause

  • Charity walks – raising both money and awareness

  • Bake sales – because who can resist a sweet treat for charity?

These activities not only raised much-needed funds, but also helped build awareness about the vital work Birmingham Children’s Hospital does every single day.

The Impact of Your Donations

Every penny of the £2,461.67 raised will go towards projects that make a real difference to young patients and their families. From funding positive experiences and stories to keeping facilities and technology up-to-date, donations like ours help the hospital to continue creating the best possible environment for care and recovery.

We were humbled to receive these kind words from the hospital’s Regional Fundraiser:

“I wanted to get in touch to say a huge thank you to you all for the amazing donation of £2,461.67, and say how incredibly grateful I am for your support. Every pound you’ve raised will bring hope, comfort, and joy to the lives of the brave children and families we care for every single day. Your generosity means the world to us – and more importantly, to them.”

A Big Thank You

We couldn’t be prouder of everyone at Heart of England Training who took part in fundraising activities, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our efforts along the way.

Our visit reminded us that Birmingham Children’s Hospital is not just a place for treatment – it’s a place where families find hope, children find joy, and where every detail is designed to make difficult times just a little bit easier.

Together, we’ve made a difference.
