Shamima’s Business Administration Apprenticeship Journey

When Shamima began her search for a career in administration and finance, she quickly encountered a familiar obstacle—lack of experience. Despite holding Level 2 qualifications in both areas, she found it difficult to secure a role without prior hands-on knowledge.

“Most of the jobs required previous experience, which is something I did not have. I didn’t feel confident applying for roles that didn’t require experience either, as I had never worked in a professional setting before.”

This barrier led Shamima to explore a different route: an apprenticeship. She enrolled onto the Business Administration Level 3 programme with ourselves and began her role at Madani Schools Federation. It’s a decision that not only filled the gap in experience but helped her grow both personally and professionally.

A Supportive and Dynamic Working Environment

For Shamima, one of the highlights of her apprenticeship has been the people around her and the variety within her role.

“Every day is different and the atmosphere in the office is amazing. I really enjoy the company of my colleagues and getting out of the house to build new friendships and relationships.”

She also values the opportunity to develop a strong professional identity, something she felt was missing before starting her journey.

Outstanding Support from Heart of England Training

Shamima speaks highly of the support she received from us throughout her apprenticeship.

“Heart of England Training has been outstanding. My educator, Fay, was so supportive and understanding throughout. The day courses were very informative and relevant, and everyone I came across—whether from the Induction Team, the Examiner or Salad Skills—was friendly and approachable.”

She credits the programme with improving both her knowledge and practical skills, saying it helped her understand the business world and act more professionally. Shamima also mentioned how proud she is of her achievements.

Encouraging Others to Take the Leap

Reflecting on her experience, Shamima strongly encourages others to consider the apprenticeship route.

“Working as an apprentice has been one of the most satisfying roles I’ve done in my life. It helped me grow in confidence and become comfortable in a professional setting.”

Her advice is simple but powerful: “Go for it.”

She recommends apprenticeships to anyone wanting to boost their confidence and gain practical, real-world experience that can’t always be taught in a classroom.
