Our full-time football education programs are delivered in partnership with Pro:Direct Academy Northampton, Pro:Direct Academy Leicester, Pro:Direct Academy Peterborough, Romulus FC, Racing Club Warwick FC and Spartans RUFC. With six academies across Birmingham, Daventry, Quorn, Peterborough, and Warwick, we offer two pathways—BTEC or NVQ, both up to Level 3—that are designed to set you on the path to a successful career in sport or sports coaching.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • 10 hours of professional UEFA coaching each week
  • At least one match day per week, including competitive fixtures against professional clubs, US colleges, and touring teams
  • Training 3 times a week with UEFA A or B licensed coaches at state-of-the-art facilities
  • Strength & conditioning and recovery sessions to enhance your performance
  • Opportunities to train at St. George’s Park, the national football centre
  • Exposure to top-level competitions such as the National League Youth Alliance, ECFA league, and FA Youth Cup
  • Unique opportunities for each academy, including Pro:Direct Academy Select XI events and discounts on sports gear

Course Information

Sports Coaching & Development (BTEC Level 3)

This 2-year course is intended for those wanting to progress directly to self-employment in the coaching and development sector as a coach.

Level 2 VTCT in Sports Studies

This 12-month course is perfect for those who aspire to work in a PE and school sport setting, prior to qualifying as a Teaching Assistant.

  • Anatomy and physiology for sport
  • Psychology for sport performance
  • Planning and leading sport activities
  • Planning and running a sport event
  • Nutrition for sports performance
  • Injuries in sports
  • Business skills in sport
  • Technical and tactical awareness for sport

Level 3 Active IQ in Coaching Sport

This 12-month qualification provides the skills and knowledge to be able to plan, deliver and evaluate coaching sessions in a coaching role.

Please note this course is only valid if you enrol before October

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to join our programmes. However, if you do not hold a GCSE grade of 4 in maths and/or English we will incorporate these functional skills or GCSE’s into your training. When joining the programme you will first have an interview with a member of the team at the Academy to check your eligibility, we look at additional needs required, behaviour and interest in the programme during this stage.

Work Experience

During your course, we will support you with work experience which will assist you when the time comes to decide on your next steps. Work experience hours can vary from 6 hours to 350 hours depending on your qualifications.

Yes – it’s not all work, work, work! With our courses, you will also have the opportunity to visit companies and enjoy a wide range of trips and activities. And…a high percentage of young people who attend our academies progress into an apprenticeship, job or further education. HOET also offers a wide range of ‘Personal Development’ sessions, trips and workshops to support your needs.
