What you'll do at work
As an Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprentice at Welshampton CE Primary School, you will support the EYFS team in providing nurturing care and high-quality early education for young children. A typical day will include:
- Planning and supporting engaging activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including child-initiated and adult-led learning, purposeful play and practical experiences matched to children’s individual needs, interests and developmental stages.
- Supporting children’s communication, language, early literacy and numeracy development through play, stories, songs, routines and high-quality interactions.
- Helping to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, stimulating and well-organised learning environment, following safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and risk-management procedures.
- Building positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues, contributing to a warm, supportive and inclusive school community.
- Observing children, recording progress and using assessment information to help plan next steps and provide personalised support.
- Supporting children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development, including transitions, independence, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
- Working professionally as part of the EYFS and wider school team, attending meetings, receiving feedback and participating in ongoing training with Heart of England Training. This is a dynamic and rewarding role, giving the apprentice meaningful opportunities to develop as an early years professional while helping children feel safe, secure, curious and ready to learn.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:

Other requirements
Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and safeguarding checks. The apprentice will work in a school EYFS setting and must follow school policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, equality, health and safety and behaviour. The course includes regular HOET educator sessions and assessment through a portfolio/professional discussion and knowledge test. First aid is required in line with EYFS requirements.

The qualification also supports progression into roles such as Early Years Educator, Nursery Practitioner, Preschool Practitioner, Reception Class Assistant or Childcare Practitioner, with a longer-term pathway towards Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner.
