Last time, we met Matthew Jarvis, a lab supervisor at EMR Metal Recycling. With Heart of England Training, he began his Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship, wanting to expand his knowledge of managing and supervising a team.
Tom Russell, Learning & Development Manager of EMR Metal Recycling, shared his experience working with Heart of England Training and how it has benefitted their company.
The apprenticeship was recommended by their Learning & Development Team, as they had discovered a requirement to develop their staff working towards team and shift supervisor roles.
“After reviewing the job roles, the L&D team were able to recommend the Level 3 Team Leader programme as a great fit for the required upskilling”.
“Using the apprenticeship levy to enable our colleagues to develop is great to enhance management skills and knowledge in different business areas” he added “We’re really pleased that this first cohort starting contains team leaders from different business units – this will allow peer learning and networking across our UK wide operations”.
He found working with Heart of England Training was an ‘enjoyable’ experience, both for their learners and L&D management team.
“Professional, thorough and approachable, the HOET team have helped guide our learners through the induction and diagnostic stages, and offered sound advice to the L&D management team”. He added that feedback from their learners about the course has been ‘positive’, with good learning and progression.
As a global leader in sustainable materials, EMR believes their apprentices are a key part of their future skills strategy.
“Apprenticeships deliver a fantastic way to grow our own talent…I would recommend any organisation should seriously consider them as a great way of developing both new starters and current colleagues”.
