Caroline McCluskey and Sharon Newell, from Warwickshire County Council, decided to take-on an apprenticeship with Heart of England Training to develop their skills, knowledge and help progress in each of their careers.
Feeling stuck in her previous role, Caroline decided to enrol to our management level 5 apprenticeship, whilst Sharon did the same.
When asked on what they enjoyed the most about their apprenticeships, they found the topics covered were in-depth and gave them greater knowledge of their work. Sharon said;
“I found the workshops interesting, and the activities and discussions helped embed my understanding and learning…it really helped having participants from a mixture of backgrounds too.”
They also felt their apprenticeship training has been very supportive and nurturing, thanks to their educator, Tracey Furey.
“I couldn’t have done it without the support, guidance and nurturing from Tracey” said Sharon “her support is second to none”
“I was so well supported by Tracey” Caroline added “I never felt overwhelmed or couldn’t cope.”
Caroline has since completed her management apprenticeship, securing a new role within WCC as a Disabilities Commissioner.
“When I received my result, I was so excited to see that I achieved a Distinction – it is something that I remain very proud of” she said “I feel the skills I had learnt during the apprenticeship had certainly enabled me to achieve this professional development.”
Sharon was also successful, achieving her level 5 apprenticeship in Operations Management. Half-way through the course, she began her role within WCC as an Operations Manager for their Learning Disability Team.
“I wanted to undertake this course to gain confidence and develop my theoretical knowledge” She said “it provided a real boost to me at the end to know that I had passed with a distinction and my hard work had paid off. Thank you to everyone involved in my journey!”
