Leicester Salon, The Salon His & Hers, received amazing feedback from a hair “model” earlier this month. The client was very impressed by learner Tyler Armstrong and her tutor, Lindsey Bell.
“The trainee hairdresser handled the booking of my appointment themselves – shampoo, cut and blow dry…When I first came into the salon about possibly booking an appointment, she was welcoming, enthusiastic and clear when explaining the care that would be taken to ensure she did a good job”.
On the day, the client asked Tyler to use her name before saying anything she needed to know to make it easier for her, as she was deaf. To her delight, Tyler remembered to do this throughout the appointment.
“Many adults who work professionally with disabled and elderly people don’t do as well as they did. I was pleased Tyler treated me in the same pleasant, courteous manner after I’ve explained my disability as before – that doesn’t always happen”.
The client was amazed at how Tyler handled the appointment, working steadily while listening to her tutor’s advice, not once losing focus or becoming nervous as time went by.
“I haven’t visited a hairdresser’s for at least seven months so my hair was very long and uneven…I’m very pleased with the results Tyler achieved and have had family and other contacts say nice things about my hair”.
The client gave her thanks to both Tyler and Lindsey, impressed by how the salon tutors their apprentices.
“Lindsey watched for learning points in the session and explained them as they arose (clearly; fully and briefly). Ensuring Tyler remained in charge of the session while showing effective techniques when necessary, improving the results she was obtaining”.
