Debbie Collins completed her Level 4 School Business Apprenticeship with Heart of England Training at King Hedges Educational Federation. The Apprenticeship duration is 18 months; however, she successfully achieved her qualification within just 15.

Debbie initially discovered the course through her manager, seeing if she would be interested applying to progress in her career and improve her CPD (Continuing Professional Development). Since the apprenticeship was completed virtually, she loved the flexibility of the course.

“I had my meetings with Ben via Zoom & my EPA was also virtual with Steadfast. I found this worked really well and allowed me to continue working without travelling to the day courses”.

When asked about how she found her training with Heart of England Training, Debbie said it was “amazing”, and recommends anyone who is looking for an apprenticeship to complete it with HOET. She also wanted to give a shout-out to her educator Ben Jones.

“Ben in particular was brilliant, he guided me throughout this apprenticeship and was always readily available if I needed anything…always helped me with any query big or small”. “Ben was very proactive and always ensured I understood what I was doing” she added “he always encouraged me to do my best and reassured me that I had the knowledge and experience to complete my EPA”.

When asked what advice she would give to someone doing an apprenticeship, Debbie said “Definitely do it!”

“The time really does fly by and you are allocated off the job training so you will have the time to complete assignments etc if you are worrying about juggling it with your workload. I will never look back, I am happy I have now completed this apprenticeship and will carry this with me for the future.”
