School Business Manager Apprenticeship
Our School Business Manager apprenticeship course is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to oversee financial and operational management, procurement, human resources, infrastructure, governance and marketing within a school setting.
The School Business Manager performs a role which is unique to schools: administering and managing the financial, site and support services within the school context. They provide essential support to school leadership teams, implementing their financial and business decisions.
During your apprenticeship as a School Business Manager, you will compile evidence demonstrating occupational skills, knowledge and behaviours; underpinning the confidence and competence gained in all aspects of the standard. We will support you with one to one workplace visits, virtual learning modules (VLE), and remote sessions. Candidates are required to complete a workplace project on two of the following areas: Finance, Procurement Human Resource, Managing Support Services, Marketing and Infrastructure. The project will underpin the End Point Assessment (EPA) project report, presentation and Q&A completed during EPA. End Point Assessment (EPA) is the name given to a series of tests an apprentice must take at the end of an apprenticeship to prove their ability to do the job they have been training for.
An apprenticeship standard in School Business Professional at Level 4 is a nationally recognised route to a wide variety of school management professions. The standards and assessment plans that candidates work towards are set by a number of big schools and colleges. Heart of England Training works alongside the Institute of School Business Leadership to promote and deliver this standard – click here for details.
Day Courses
To support the knowledge elements of the School Business Professional apprenticeship, we deliver a series of 4 remote (online) day courses.
Testimonials from previous candidates
I found these sessions very informative and was glad to have taken the time out to participate. I’ve come away with plenty to think about. It was great to meet up with other people undertaking the course as you can feel very isolated in this role, I look forward to the next sessions
I thought that the Zoom approach works well and that the trainer did a good job of delivering the content. The other candidates were friendly, and it had a nice feel to it. Of course marketing and communication are a big part of my project so the session was possibly even more useful to me
