Specialist Teaching Assistant Level 5
WE CAN ENROL FROM THE 31ST JANUARY 2025. FIND OUT MORE TODAY!
The Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship provides a natural progression for teaching assistants looking to further their careers in education. These professionals work alongside colleagues to inspire learners across all age groups to progress and achieve their potential.
Specialist teaching assistants support a diverse range of learners and may focus on areas such as special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social and emotional well-being, or other specialist curriculum areas such as forest schools, EAL, subject-based interventions, or music education. In Early Years settings, specialisms are developed through continuing professional development opportunities, following the achievement of a recognised qualification that meets Early Years qualification requirements and standards.
Specialist teaching assistants foster relationships with learners, families, and professionals, playing a vital role in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments. They are responsible for supporting both individual and group learning, ensuring student safety, and assisting with assessment and evaluation processes. Furthermore, they may provide training and support to colleagues in their area of expertise.
As a level 5 TA apprentice you will be able to choose your specialism:
- SEND specialist teaching assistant
- Social and emotional well-being specialist teaching assistant
- Curriculum provision specialist teaching assistant
This training is fully funded through the Apprenticeship levy and specifically looks to address the shortage in funded training relating to SEN and Nurture environments.
