Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship
Our Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Course currently has a 94% pass rate and is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to understand pupils’ learning and development, support assessment and add value to education.
During your apprenticeship as a Teaching Assistant, you could be working in primary, special and secondary education across all age ranges encompassing special educational needs and emotional vulnerabilities. The role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress.
Promoting self-belief, social inclusion and high self-esteem play an integral part to pupils’ wellbeing; ensuring pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing, safe environment. The Teaching Assistant’s role is an active one: supporting the learner to access the curriculum. They are good role models, act with honesty and integrity, take part in team meetings and contribute to planning and class activities. They promote Fundamental British Values through spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and positive behaviours to improve pupil progress and development.
Our TA education team is here for you. All of our Educators have substantial industry and TA / school sector experience so they are best placed to support, mentor and guide you through to achievement.
Course content
The Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship course content includes: Pupils' learning & development; Supporting assessment & learning; Keeping children safe in education; Curriculum skills; Using technology; Building relationships & embracing change; Motivating pupils & problem-solving; Professional standards & personal accountability; Working with teachers to accurately assess
Assessment
For the End-Point Assessment, you will undergo a 2-hour practical observation (this is split into four 30 minute observations) and a Q&A session of 15 minutes. The professional discussion will be completed at the end of the observation, supported by a portfolio of evidence. The discussion will be structured to establish your understanding and application of the knowledge, skills and behaviours lasting 90 minutes.

Throughout your Teaching Assistant apprenticeship course, we will provide one-to-one contact sessions with your Educator; OneFile eportfolio for tasks, assignments & feedback; regular reviews to track progress and achievement; mock assessments and development feedback; Day Courses to support EPA preparation; 'Prevent' online certificate; HOET Exchange online networking/discussion group; Functional Maths and English workshops (if required).

To support the knowledge elements of the Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, we deliver a series of 4 remote (online) day courses.

We are pleased to offer our Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprentices access to over 100 CPD courses through Anspear. Specialism pathways include: Classroom skills, Pastoral & SEND, Teaching Methods, Literacy, Staff & Wellbeing and Maths & Science.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Progression
Apprentices who complete the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard with us can take advantage of a 20% discount on our Level 4 HLTA qualification. The standard cost of the course if £650. For learners who have completed the Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship with us, we offer a 20% discount on HLTA progression: a 6-month Level 4 qualification for just £520.
