Yaw Agyei, former learner from Pro:Direct Academy, has begun pre-season training after signing a two-year scholarship with Brentford FC.
“At Pro:Direct, there are a lot of opportunities” he said “The Pro:Direct Showcase in St. Georges had a lot of professional clubs looking to sign and gather players, it is where I first got some specs of interest from clubs. Then, I got chosen for the Showcase game against Brentford.”
A call from home
As a young footballer, Yaw found his biggest inspiration came from his hometown in Northampton. He said some of his biggest inspirations within the industry were, “Ivan Toney and Carney Chukwuemeka, those type of players that have come and done it. And for actual playing style, I have to say Thiago, Zidane, Iniesta and Pogba for their elegant midfielding.”
Determined to be the best
Yaw found that his time at Pro:Direct encouraged him to become a professional footballer, when asked how he said, “On and off the pitch, I showed great resilience and determination”.
“When I am given advice” he added “when someone is telling me how to better my performance, I listen and apply them.”

Our full-time Football Education Programme are delivered in 4 Academies located in Birmingham, Daventry, Quorn and Warwick. It has two routes, BTEC & NVQ, both setting you up for a career in Sport or Sports Coaching.
