The City of Coventry Freeman’s Guild Apprentice of the Year awards were back this year and the awards evening took place on the 26th September with a wonderful turn out from fellow Freeman’s, to the nominated apprentices who brought along their employers as well as family and friends to celebrate the occasion and was presentation by the Lord Mayor of Coventry.
The purpose of the Guild Awards is ‘to celebrate the achievements of local young people who are either apprentices or trainees and who are currently undertaking a contracted training programme linked to a recognised career path.
We had the honour of attending this event alongside of our learners from a school in Coventry that we work with – Higham Lane School.
Lucy Holly-Brown was the apprentice up for the nomination of Apprentice of the Year for the Small/Medium employer Category. Lucy made it as a finalist within this category which was an amazing achievement within her Apprenticeship. Lucy’s manager Karen, at Higham Lane School had some lovely words to say to Lucy:
“You set an amazing example for everyone. This is an amazing achievement and is just one step in your journey. One very proud mentor.”
Congratulations to all the nominees that attended the awards and a huge congratulations to Lucy on all your hard work from everyone at Heart of England Training!
