Coventry Sport Academy

Our full-time Football Education programme is delivered in association with Carl Baker Football Academy. Carl Baker played for and captained Coventry City FC over a five-year spell as well as playing for and gaining promotion with MK Dons FC and Portsmouth FC.

Which courses can you study at Coventry?

Our Coventry Football Education programme has two routes:

  • NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Activity Leadership
  • Level 2 Certificate/Diploma in Coaching Sport
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of PE & School Sport
  • BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development

Both routes prepare you for a career in Sport or Coaching. Some former learners now play for professional football clubs in the UK or coach in the USA. Other popular routes after completion of these courses include apprenticeships, higher education, teaching, training and semi-professional contracts.

Useful information

The bursary is a fund to help you participate in learning. It can be used to support with things such as travel or books and equipment and is assessed on an individual basis. To apply for bursary support, go to www.hoet.co.uk/financial-support-request

The programme includes 10 hours of professional coaching per week with our UEFA A and B licensed coaches, as well as support with Maths and English if needed. 

The programme includes two match days per week. Fixtures will include a number of professional clubs, US colleges and touring teams as well as regular matches in the National League Youth Alliance, ECFA league, FA Youth Cup, tournaments, friendlies against pro clubs and opportunities to train at St. George’s Park, the English Football Association’s national football centre.
