We are committed to helping individuals unlock their potential through high-quality apprenticeship programmes whilst gaining industry experience. One such success story is Lauren Wheeler, who is currently completing her Business Administration Apprenticeship with TrAC Apprenticeships and Kier Group. Through hands-on experience and our dedicated training support, Lauren has been able to grow both professionally and personally.

Why Lauren Chose an Apprenticeship

For Lauren, the decision to pursue an apprenticeship was driven by the need to gain work experience while earning a qualification. “I knew that university wasn’t much of an option for me because I wanted a job but had no real experience. The idea of earning while I learned made me look into apprenticeships,” she explained.

Apprenticeships offer a unique combination of practical experience and structured learning, making them a fantastic alternative for those who prefer a more hands-on approach to developing their career.

Gaining Valuable Experience at TrAC Apprenticeships

Lauren has embraced the opportunity to learn and develop new skills in a real working environment. One of the aspects she enjoys most is the variety of experiences her role provides. “I mostly enjoyed being able to learn different things about the business and being allowed to gain experience in things that I would never have thought to try, such as facilities management and organising corporate events,” she shared.

This diverse exposure has not only enhanced her business knowledge but has also given her the confidence to take on responsibilities she hadn’t previously considered.

Support from Heart of England Training

At Heart of England Training, we pride ourselves on providing apprentices with the guidance and support they need to succeed. Lauren has found our team particularly helpful, especially as she nears the completion of her apprenticeship. “I have found the staff to be very supportive and helpful, especially towards the end of my apprenticeship. Every step was explained in detail and was able to make me feel less nervous about everything,” she said.

With over 40 years of experience, our expert trainers ensure that every apprentice receives the best possible support, from their first day to the completion of their programme.

Advice for Future Apprentices

Lauren encourages those considering an apprenticeship to be proactive in their learning. “I would say to ask as many questions as possible – the people within your workplace know that you are new to the industry (or work in general) and are expecting you to not understand certain terminology etc. As long as you are respectful, ask as many questions as you can,” she advised.

This willingness to learn and engage is key to making the most of any apprenticeship opportunity.

TrAC’s Experience Working with Heart of England Training

Our partnership with TrAC Apprenticeships has been incredibly positive, with strong communication and a shared commitment to delivering quality service for both apprentices and employers. As TrAC shared, “The experience working with HOET has been very positive. Communication happens regularly, and they will go above and beyond to ensure the apprentice and employer receives a quality service.”

They also highlighted the positive impact of apprentices within their organisation: “Apprentices have had an extremely positive impact on TrAC, our host companies, and the sectors they are based in. They take the knowledge, skills, and behaviours learnt with HOET and seamlessly transition them into the workplace.”

Providing tailored support is at the heart of what we do. TrAC emphasised, “Providing individual tailored support to our apprentices, the communication and the quality in place is what makes HOET’s apprenticeship programme stand out.” We are proud to work with TrAC to create opportunities that help individuals build their confidence, gain experience, and prepare for their next career steps.

The Benefits of Apprenticeships

Lauren believes that apprenticeships are particularly beneficial for school leavers who are unsure about their next steps. “I would recommend an apprenticeship to those leaving school and unsure of where to go next, because it will give you a qualification and some experience to help you progress in your career,” she shared.

Her experience highlights the significant advantages of apprenticeships: gaining industry experience, earning a recognised qualification, and receiving hands-on training in a real work environment.
