At Heart of England Training (HOET), our people play a vital role in delivering high‑quality business apprenticeships and supporting employers every step of the way. In this In The Spotlight feature, we meet Sheetal Mistry, one of our Apprenticeship Partners, who works closely with employers and learners as an account manager within the Business sector.

What Does an Apprenticeship Partner Do?

As an Apprenticeship Partner at HOET, Sheetal’s role focuses on account managing employer partners and acting as a key point of contact throughout the apprenticeship journey. From day‑to‑day support to ongoing relationship management, the role is central to ensuring successful apprenticeship delivery.

“My job role covers account management and ensuring I am that person at the end of a phone call or email who is available to help and support my partners,” Sheetal explains.

Working across multiple teams and responsibilities gives her a wide understanding of how apprenticeships work in practice.

“I have a varied role where I have my fingers in lots of pies, but this makes me knowledgeable in all the tasks I undertake on a day‑to‑day basis.”

This hands‑on approach allows employers offering business apprenticeships to feel fully supported, informed, and confident.

Starting Her Journey at Heart of England Training

Sheetal joined Heart of England Training six months ago as an Apprenticeship Partner, and despite being relatively new to the organisation, she has already experienced rapid learning and development.

“I have only been here six months and already I am learning so much!”

Remaining in the same role while building knowledge and confidence has given Sheetal the opportunity to grow quickly.

“I came to Heart of England Training as an Apprenticeship Partner. I’m still fairly new in the role and I am learning lots day to day.”

This mirrors the nature of apprenticeships themselves—continuous learning, development, and progression.

Working in Business Apprenticeships

One of the key reasons Sheetal enjoys her role is the people she works with. Collaborating closely with colleagues, employers, and learners is a core part of being an Apprenticeship Partner.

“The people are great here, always at hand to help and support.”

She has also enjoyed building strong relationships with her employer partners and apprentices.

“I’ve built good rapport with some of my employers and learners, which always helps you to do a job well.”

That relationship‑led approach is essential to delivering impactful and successful business apprenticeships.

What She Loves Most About the Role

For Sheetal, communication is at the heart of what she does. Her role allows her to connect with people every day, both professionally and personally.

“I enjoy talking to people and having conversations about apprenticeships.”

It’s not always purely work‑focused either.

“I also enjoy the odd chat about how someone’s weekend has been or whether they had a good time on their holiday.”

These everyday conversations help strengthen trust and long‑term partnerships with employers.

Life Outside of Work

Outside of work, Sheetal enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle and exploring new places.

“I enjoy being healthy, so I go to the gym as and when I can.”

She also has a passion for travel.

“I love travelling and want to explore more countries in the future.”

Did You Know?

There’s one fact about Sheetal that might surprise some colleagues.

“I lived abroad in Oslo, Norway for a short period in my life.”

A reflection of her adaptability and openness to new experiences—qualities that translate well into her Apprenticeship Partner role.
