Matthew Jarvis, a Lab Supervisor at EMR Metal Recycling, began his Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship with Heart of England Training, to expand his knowledge of supervising and managing a team, to help progress his career with the global leader in sustainable materials.

Matthew began the Level 3 Team Leader/ Supervisor apprenticeship in May 2022, with the apprenticeship duration taking just over 12 months.

When asked on what he enjoyed the most about the apprenticeship, Matthew said:  “I saw it as a way to learn and improve myself both at a professional and personal level”.

“I have found the course with Heart of England Training to be informative, relevant and a good balance between theory and practical application. The material we covered was up-to-date and highly relevant to my role.”

When asked what advice he would give to someone who is considering an apprenticeship, Matthew said: “go in with an open mind”.

“Even if you think you know certain areas and topics, you can still gain further knowledge. I have already been able to employ the skills and tips I have learnt, with great results almost immediately.”

He added: “I saw it as an opportunity to further myself. It puts me in the best position to progress my career”.

“An apprenticeship with Heart of England Training will give you the opportunity to meet people and learn new skills which you otherwise would not have been able to.”
