Completing an apprenticeship is an opportunity to build new skills, apply learning in the workplace and gain a recognised qualification. For Rebecca Moore of Admin & More, her Operations Manager apprenticeship success saw her achieve an impressive Distinction on the Operations Manager Level 5 apprenticeship with Heart of England Training.
Rebecca chose the apprenticeship as an opportunity to continue developing her skills and knowledge alongside her existing role, combining structured learning with practical workplace experience.
“I chose this apprenticeship because I wanted to continue developing my skills and knowledge while still working in my role. I learn much better when I can actually apply what I’m learning to real situations, so an apprenticeship felt like a good way to do both at the same time.”
Choosing the Operations Manager Apprenticeship
Rebecca wanted a development route that would complement the experience she had already gained while providing the opportunity to work towards a recognised qualification.
“I also wanted to gain a recognised qualification that reflected the experience I’d already built up in my role.”
This combination of workplace learning and professional development meant Rebecca could relate what she was learning through her Operations Manager Level 5 apprenticeship directly to her responsibilities at Admin & More.
Putting Operations Management Skills into Practice
One of the most valuable aspects of Rebecca’s experience was being able to connect the apprenticeship to real situations within her role.
“I’ve really enjoyed the training and found it easy to relate the learning back to my actual role. A lot of the work I’ve done has been relevant to things I was already dealing with at work, which made it much easier to understand and put into practice.”
Regular support from her educator at Heart of England Training also played an important part in Rebecca’s apprenticeship journey.
“The regular meetings with my educator were also really useful. It was good to have someone to talk things through with, ask questions and make sure I was heading in the right direction.”
Developing Leadership and Management Skills
Rebecca’s Operations Manager apprenticeship helped her gain a broader understanding of the work she was already doing and consider how processes and ways of working could be improved.
“It’s helped me understand the bigger picture behind a lot of the work I do. I’ve been able to take things I’ve learnt and apply them to processes, systems, client experience and how we work as a team.”
It also encouraged Rebecca to take a step back and consider why particular processes were in place and whether there were opportunities to work differently.
“It’s also made me think more about why we’re doing something and whether there’s a better or more efficient way of doing it, rather than just doing things because that’s how they’ve always been done.”
Rebecca’s Advice for Future Apprentices
Following her own Operations Manager apprenticeship success, Rebecca would encourage others considering an apprenticeship to take the opportunity.
“I’d definitely recommend considering one. You do need to put the time and effort in, but I think you get a lot more from it when you’re able to relate the learning to your actual job.”
Rebecca also emphasised that learners shouldn’t feel they need to know everything before beginning their apprenticeship.
“Don’t worry about not knowing everything before you start either. A lot of the learning comes from being able to look at things you’re already doing and understand them in a different way.”
Rebecca’s Experience with Heart of England Training
Congratulations to Rebecca on achieving a Distinction and completing her Operations Manager Level 5 apprenticeship with Heart of England Training.
