Maths and English

At HOET we really believe that a strong grounding in Maths and English is vital for young people, regardless of the career route that they choose to follow. The skills that you learn are transferable into every aspect of your work and even your personal life. At HOET we put such a high importance on this part of your course, and make sure that we tailor your course so that it is personal and works for you. No two learners will have the same plan and we will discuss the best options for you before you enrol with us. The resources we have are adaptable to different methods of learning – some learners prefer lessons, some YouTube videos or worksheets. There is no right or wrong way to learn Maths or English.

From an education point of view, our staff take real pride in the work they do and are constantly pushing the boundaries with what their learners can achieve. Our staff will often be just as excited or disappointed as their learner, when an exam result comes through. It is more than just a job, it is something they work hard at all year round. Our staff also recognise how important these skills are in today’s job market. Employers will use these subjects as filters on who they will interview for potential jobs.

I have worked with HOET for over 8 years and still get a real buzz on seeing a learner achieve in maths or English. We are now able to track and monitor our learners’ progress and achievement more than ever. This allows us to improve our curriculum year on year as well as using learner focus groups and feedback to make sure we are operating at the highest possible level.
