Vicky Bacon has recently studied the Level 2 Early years Practitioner Apprenticeship with Heart of England Training. Upon completion, she has received a Distinction!

Over the course of her apprenticeship, Vicky has been employed at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. St Josephs is a busy but friendly school with plenty of excited, happy and active learners. Everyone in their learning community, from pupils to parents to parishioners, work hard to achieve success through an unswerving attitude of enthusiasm, encouragement and high expectations. All adults are committed to the development of every child through a collaborative partnership with parents and carers.

Learner Feedback

Vicky gave us her backstory on why she chose to study an Early Years apprenticeship and work with young children.

“Around 2 years ago my daughter was diagnosed with Autism.  I had no understanding of this.  After doing lots of research, I wanted to understand it more. Also to try to help others have a better understanding of Autism.”

She continued on to say that the training along with the practical experience has given her a better understanding of this. Her home life has improved, and she is now able to help others and empathise.

After going into a bit of depth on her story, Vicky elaborated on just how beneficial this qualification has been to her.

“The course is designed for early years (babies to 7-year-olds) but I have found it has helped me have an understanding for all age groups.  I currently work in Reception, but the course has given me knowledge that’s extends around this year group.”

Heart of England Training – Early Years Apprenticeship

Vicky found the day courses that she undertook throughout her training very easy. She explained that the overall layout and set up of the courses was really easy to navigate.

“The training courses provided to me have been really useful and allowed me to provide the best care to children in my setting. My assessor has been there for me every step of the way.”

What are Vicky’s next steps? She has recently been offered a position within the nursery and is very excited for the journey ahead of her. She plans to stay at this nursery for a year before completing her Early Years Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Educator Feedback

To finish Vicky’s story, she wanted to give some special thanks to her educator, Karen Coulbourne, who has been by her side from the start. She simply cannot thank her enough! Vicky said that Karen has been amazing from start to finish. She has always been there to support and encourage her.

“I could not have done this without her. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I will always be forever grateful for you.”

Better still, Karen wanted to give us some positive feedback on what it’s been like having Vicky as her apprentice.

“Vicky has been such an amazing lady to work with. She has been so positive with her journey and 100% motivated throughout. Vicky and I have had some lovely conversations about her work history. Some laughs, some more serious conversations but she has at all times, remained so enthusiastic about her apprenticeship it has been a pleasure to be her educator.”

“She has steamed through her units. Often so ahead she has told me what she is going to evidence for her portfolio before I set the work with every assignment, Vicky has gone above and beyond to showcase her enormous role development. Well done Vicky for getting where you are, and I wish you every success for your future.”
